Playing Patience

Playing Patience

5 Star Rating!!!!!!!

Synopsis:
Life’s been hard for Zeke. Being a punching bag for his alcoholic father has turned him into stone. Not even the dodgy trailer park he lives in can scare him. Fighting is his release and sex, drugs, and his guitar bring him peace, but deep down Zeke isn’t quite as hard as he makes himself out to be. When he meets Patience, she finds all his broken pieces and puts him back together, but she’s a ray of light in his shadowed life and the last thing he wants to do is bring her into his dark world. Playing careless is easy, playing the bad guy can be fun, but playing Patience is impossible, especially when she can see right through him.

Zeke isn’t the only one who’s broken, and for the first time, in a long time, Patience feels alive. Her black and white world gets a shot of color when she meets Zeke. He’s unlike anyone she’s ever met with his tattoos, piercings, and blunt honesty. She wants nothing more than to let go and ride the wild side with him, but some wounds never heal and the broken pieces of Patience aren’t so easy to find.

***Warning: this book contains graphic language, sex, and violence. Mature readers only. Not intended for young adult readers.***

Exerpt
I turned away and flicked my blonde hair with the back of my fingers making sure it whipped him in the face.
He grabbed a fist full of it and gently tugged me against him. His warm body was pressed against my back. His strong heartbeat slammed into my shoulder reminding me how tall and big he was. His breath tickled my cheek as he pressed his lips to my ear. Goosebumps invaded every inch of my skin and I shivered. He felt my shiver and chuckled softly. It was deep and dark…sexy.
“Spit all the lies you want, Snowflake.” His hand snaked around me and under my shirt. My abdominal muscles clenched making my ribs ache as he ran his finger around my belly button. “Your body spoke my language the other night and it said differently. I’m not stupid; I see the way you look at me. It’s hot and I fucking love it. I bet you fantasize about me, too. One day you’re going to beg me for the things you fantasize about. If you’re a good little girl, I might give you some relief when that time comes. So, I suggest you play nice.” He planted a hot kiss on the side of my neck and then cold air rushed in against my back and replaced him.

Review:

I absolutely fell in love with this book and the characters. On the surface the stereotypical rich good girl and sexy bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks is what I envisioned. But I quickly realized underneath all that you have two people more alike than they realize through secrets they keep buried within.
Patience is a rich girl whose life seems perfect in the beginning but you quickly find out it is anything but perfect. She does her best to try and blend in, everywhere but on the soccer field. Her mother and sister are the most important people in her life and she will go to any means to keep them safe.  Quickly you find out that just because it looks perfect on the outside does not always mean it is on the inside……Patience and her family have plenty of secrets.
”There’s a place you land, right before you hit rock bottom, a sort of cushion before the blow…Zeke was that place for me. He was like a rainbow in my black and white movie, a soothing touch against jagged scars.” ~Patience

“She was a sense of peace I had been searching for in all the wrong places” ~Zeke

Zeke is a cocky, smart mouthed, party boy rocker. He barely goes to school enough to slide by, Plays in his band called Blow Hole and parties hard afterward. He doesn't there is anything wrong with his lifestyle and thinks that there is nothing better out there for him.

"You want to know what I am? I'm shattered, that's what I am. There are tiny pieces of Patience scattered all over." ~Patience

“Don’t ever be scared with me. I’d never do anything to hurt you and I’d destroy anyone who tried”~ Zeke

 A twist of fate lead to Patience and Zeke finding one another, and though they got off to a rocky start……….Patience ends up finding peace in the arms of Zeke,  Unfortunately Zeke hates feeling any sort of emotion, especially the feelings that he starts having toward Patience. He fights his feelings for her, knowing that he's a broken person, and that she deserves better than he can offer her….. The twist is that he has no idea that she is broken too. He tells himself that he's no good for her and that she's too good for him. He hates that she's beginning to become a weakness to him, throughout the entire book they find their way back to one another, that is until one fateful night when something awful happens and Patience tells Zeke to leave her alone, will they find their way back one more time?

Demanding Ransom

5 star rating:

Synopsis:

In nineteen-year-old Maggie Carson’s case, it’s taken more than its fair share.

Determined to move forward, Maggie embarks on her first year of college, hoping to finally put her past behind her, exactly where it belongs.

But that’s hard to do when the present is just as difficult. And even harder when someone like Ran, the gorgeous paramedic that keeps crossing Maggie’s path, challenges her to face things head on, rather than bury them like she always does.

Ran hasn’t had a perfect life either. But there’s something different about him, and something different about the way he makes Maggie feel. Maybe meeting Ran is life’s little gift for Maggie—a sort of consolation prize for enduring everything she's had to go through.

But things don’t come easy for Maggie. Why should love be the exception? And just when everything starts to settle, it’s all turned on its head once again.

If there is one thing Ran has taught Maggie, it’s that you can’t sit on the sidelines of your own existence. When life takes something that’s yours, you have every right to demand it back.

Only for Maggie, that is easier said than done.

Review:

I absolutely loved this book; I could not put it down!!  Maggie gets a phone call and is on her way to the hospital, something has happened to her brother. While on the way to the hospital the unthinkable happens and Maggie is in a serious car accident where she meets Ran, the paramedic who just so happens to be at a stoplight near the accident.

“Oh man my head feels really light. So does my whole body. Like a balloon filled with helium. I like balloons too. Geez, what did they give me?

You don’t want me to call you Ma’am? He drags his hand through his hair in a tousled position.

No I don’t. I like your face and I like balloons but I don’t like being called ma’am”

And so it starts, Ran almost immediately feels drawn to Maggie, sending balloons and checking on her after the accident. Though the feeling is not automatically reciprocated, Maggie is less than enthusiastic about Ran’s, unwanted advice.

Mikey, Maggie’s brother was in the hospital and diagnosed with a brain tumor, and throughout the entire story has one complication after another that keep bringing Ran and Maggie together. So at last Maggie decides to give their friendship a chance. That is until Ran shows up on a motorcycle, Their entire relationship in the beginning was full of twisted words and lots of arguments, but somewhere along the way they found each other and really began to build a relationship, and Maggie began to work on other relationships in her life as well.

Maggie and Ran went off for a weekend getaway with Maggie’s mother and the rest of her family to their mountain cabin in the woods, Ran taught Maggie plenty of things about life during that getaway. A few days in to the trip Maggie’s sister became ill and Ran decided to take her to the local clinic to get some fluids, a few hours later Maggie got a call that changed her life as she knew it….. Ran had been in an accident and when she got to the hospital all he remembered about her was that she was the girl in the accident. Maggie was heartbroken, and decided to leave things alone……but love always has a way of finding its way back doesn’t it? To find out you’ll have to read the book J

About the Author:

I remember my first real endeavor as a writer. I was in the sixth grade and it was a short story about the brief life of a raindrop. The only thing was, the reader didn’t discover that they were actually following the descent of a drop of rain until the final words in the feature. I loved that little shock factor and the way it was received by my audience. I won some contest and our local newspaper displayed my image and story in the paper for all to see. But it was the first time I really understood the power of words. I loved that I could truly create something out of nothing. And I knew I wanted more of that feeling.

Fast-forward nearly twenty years. I still have that newsprint with my very first story, and it still inspires me to continue my craft. But now, instead of the lure of a first place ribbon, my drive to write stems from my inability to keep these thoughts in my head any longer. The characters, their experiences, and their emotions need to be told, and I realize that I’m the only one who can do that for them. I’m the only one who can tell their story.

And I love to tell stories in other forms, too. For me, photographing a life is just as natural as writing about one, and I’m blessed to be able to do both. I specialize in documenting these milestones, from newborn babies to high school seniors, and my work can be found at www.megansquires.com.

When I’m not writing or photographing, you can find me in the car with a large McDonald’s Diet Coke, running all over town to pick up, drop off, and chauffeur my two kids, Abby and Jacob. I’m a night owl, a Jesus follower, a terrible chef, an anything-pumpkin lover, a native Californian, a laundry hater, and possibly even a slight hoarder (my husband would tell you that possibility is more than slight.)

Twisted ~~K.A.Robinson

Twisted (Torn, #2)
5 Star Rating!!!

Synopsis:

Chloe and Drake have found their happily ever after... Almost.

When Chloe's mother comes back into her life with a bang, it sets off a chain of events no one could have ever expected.
Everyone has their demons, and Chloe and Drake's hit them with a vengeance.

Sex, drugs, money, a crazy ex, and Rock n Roll.... Can they survive it all?

Things are beginning to feel a bit... Twisted.

Review:

All I can say is WOW author K.A. Robinson really outdid herself with this book!!!!!! This book starts off right where torn ended. I immediately fell in love with the story and how great Chloe and Drake were doing and then Chloe's mom shows up…………….With her arrival she flips their lives upside down as they know it, Drake and Chloe try their best to make it through all the craziness that is thrown at them but of course life does not come without obstacles.

There were some VERY unexpected twists and turns in this book and that is all I will say because I don’t want to spoil anything. I felt like we got to see a whole new side of Chloe this time around. I was really happy to see the new characters Danny and Jordan and really fell in love with them as much as I did all of the band members. I can't say that I was upset with Chloe's mom’s outcome. I felt like K.A. Robinson did a great job with the ending, though I hope to see more of Drake and Chloe :)

This book definitely lives up to its name, my emotions were all twisted up while reading this book!!

About the Author:

Translation Of Love

Where to find it:

Synopsis:
Ellie Brooks has spent the past two years of her life building barriers around herself that are guaranteed to keep people out and her demons in. She doesn't want to get close to anyone for fear of being hurt again. When she meets Latin superstar Victor Garza, she is shocked at how quickly he is able to penetrate her armor. She doesn't want to let him in but can't deny the chemistry they have. He has the potential to heal her wounds and open her heart but she isn't sure she can let him.

Will love be enough to keep them together or will Ellie's past prove to be too much for the pair to overcome?

REVIEW:

First of all I love it when I can connect with a character. Especially when I can feel their emotions like they are my own. But I also love it when an author adds in a simple sentence that makes her fantasy world believable.
For instance:

I scurry to the kitchen, fish out a vase from underneath the sink and arrange the beautiful bouquet. When I’m done, I place them in the center of my dining room table, grab my purse again and head back to a waiting Victor.

I totally have 3 maybe even 4 vases under my sink. Weird place to keep them, I kind of thought but now maybe not so much. I laughed a little and felt connected to Ellie in a new way.

The steamy scenes, I love me a good steamy-almost-all-the-way-sex-but-not-quite scene. The build up is fantastic. For instance:
 Bringing his lips down to my neck, he kisses it then slowly licks the same spot. He kisses the space just between my breasts and again replaces his lips with his tongue, taking his time licking. He lifts the hem of my cami so that it’s lying just underneath my breasts, exposing my stomach. Again he begins his delicious pattern of kissing then licking me, this time over every inch of my stomach. I tangle my hands in his hair and arch my back, letting out a moan of pleasure.

Victor is swoonworthy!

“I think I do. There’s something happening here, and you can deny it, you can run from it but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s there. We owe it to ourselves to see where it goes, don’t you think?”~VICTOR

A Social Affair

A Social Affair: A Novel

                                          3.5 Stars

Synopsis:

A cautionary tale about finding love online and the trouble that comes with cheating. Bored with her humdrum married life, thirty-two-year-old Codi Norman is searching for excitement. After teaming up with her best friend, Katina, Codi discovers that the Internet offers both money and an escape from her earthly life. In cyberspace anything is possible, and that is what Codi loves most.
While online, she meets a charming and handsome man named Quinn Hamilton. Sparks fly and the two begin a torrid affair with unpredictable consequences. But their virtual lives collide with reality when their spouses discover their illicit relationship

Review:

This is a story of Codi & Quinn – Both people married but are both unhappy with their spouses. In General both are lives are less than ideal, so starts the plot (on both parts) to reinvent themselves on the internet. They managed to meet one another on an online porn website that Codi’s friend Katrina runs, with the help of Quinn’s cousin Calvin. The two decide to meet based on their online identities and a love affair based on nothing but lies begins. The affair only goes on for a few weeks, when Quinn makes a surprise visit to see Codi and things go terribly wrong. Codi and Quinn quickly learn that everything done in the dark always comes to the light!

I personally love to read books with lots of twists and turns and plenty of sex. I kept reading this book hoping that it would get better, because it had real potential. However, when the plot is combined with an unemployed girl who took up displaying herself on a web cam as a get rich quick scheme and a sickly car salesman who hates his whole life, fall in love based on lies over the internet, I find myself disappointed.

Losing Me Finding You Blog Tour April 22, 2013

Losing Me, Finding You
Twenty-one year old Amy Cross's idea of a hot Saturday night is curling up with her favorite book boyfriend and secretly sneaking a bottle of her mother's wine. That is, until she meets Austin Sparks, the biker boy with a past that burns like fire and a gaze she can't look away from. Without knowing what she's doing or why she's doing it, Amy ends up on the road with Austin traveling from one city to another while learning things she's only ever read about in romance novels.

Review~
Ms. Stunich's new book grabbed me from the beginning. Amy Cross was someone I could relate to at first. She's the good girl, that every parent wants. Maybe just maybe she's too good. We all know good girls eventually break. I never expected the secrets that this small town that Amy lived in had. They surprised me and made me angry. I felt a whole slew of emotions through out this book. Amy's character grows and matures.
Austin Sparks the main male character, the bad boy, the biker and the extremely hot alpha male that made me change my stereotypical biker tendencies. Yes, I was horrible to automatically picture a long-white bearded older guy with a spare tire whenever I thought of a biker. Well Ms. Stunich fixed that for me. Now I can imagine Mr. Motorcycle and all of his hotness!  His character is well developed and I loved reading his chapters.
Sex? Oh yes there's sex and let me just tell you be prepared for the first scene, Amy's first time. It is smoking! I would gladly recommend this book to anyone that loves a bad boy Book Boyfriend, Motorcycle clubs and sweet innocent girls that break free.
So How Would I Rate This Book?

5 Lip Biting Sexiness!

INTERVIEW With Brax and Shay:

Chrissy and I got the chance to sit down with two of the sexiest men we know. We met Brax and Shay at STAGES BAR and had a blast. After getting seated close to the bar, we ordered drinks and got right down to business.

                           ~~~WARNING~~~
                   this is an <R> rated interview
Wendy: Have you guys ever had or considered having a threesome? and just know that the only reason we ask is because you're so close but both seem confident in your sexuality.
Shay:  Well there was this one time, in the Army, when....
Brax: Shay, shut up! No we've never had a threesome but it has been suggested before.
Chrissy: *giggling*
Wendy: I'm totally suggesting that threesome guys *winks*
Chrissy: what is your fav sex position?
Shay: Any position which involves me getting laid and sleeping with a beautiful woman, how about you two lovely ladies *waggles eyebrows*
Brax: Excuse my man whore best friend, he doesn't get out much *laughs* I'm a firm fan of Elle on top, Elle underneath, Elle in the Shower, reverse cowgirl in a photo booth...
Shay: Dude! You so need to show me those photos, I've even tried contacting the guy who rented the booth to me and he won't show me the negatives!
Brax: Never gonna happen bro, Elle would kill me!
Shay: Always knew Elle would be a firecracker in the sack.
Wendy: Brax! You're such a romantic. Shay, I'll help you out with making your own photo's in the booth *smirks*
Shay: Really Wendy? *looks around for photo booth*
Brax: Dude you're making it so obvious!
Shay: What? *holds hands up in surrender* I'm merely saying I would have photos taken in the photo booth with the lovely and overly friendly Wendy
Wendy: My husband would totally understand, no problem. *laughs*
Shay: Hmmm, married you say? How about you crush-worthy Chrissy? You single and ready to mingle?
Chrissy: Single no but I could make a night of mingling with you.
Brax: Dude, seriously, your inner man-whore is flashing. Sorry ladies, he's normally  more well-behaved, well at least for the first ten minutes
Shay: Leave pass! I like it!
Who else is on your sexual bucket list ladies? Hope i'm near the top *winks*
Chrissy: No worries Brax, it's not very often that Wendy and my flirtatiousness doesn't fluster a person.
Alright, next question. 3 words to describe each other
Brax: Loyal, honest to a fault, strong
Shay: Aww dude, I might shed a tear haha. Okay Brax is intense, hardworking, and smart
Brax: Man, I knew you loved me!
Chrissy: Awwww
Wendy: I might tear up too. You guys are getting damn mushy in here.
Shay: Brax is also a bit of a stud muffin. I've seen his butt, it could cut glass! Elle told me!
Chrissy: Can I see your ass Shay?
Shay: *stands and moves hands to belt buckle*
Brax: Dude, I think she was joking, nobody wants to see your white ass!
Wendy: Oh, I totally want to see his ass. Drop trou, please!
Chrissy: Yes, please! *licks lips*
Shay: *cracks up laughing* I like these girls Brax, they're sassy!
Wendy: Okay, we'll move on for now. Name one thing you would absolutely NOT do for each other.
Brax: Ah shit, that would be a small list cause Shay's like a brother to me. I trust him with my life and Elle's. Okay, I'd never undress him if he was drunk. I'd just chuck him in the shower fully clothes haha
Shay: Dude really? Not even down to my skivvies?
Brax: Okay maybe down to your boxers that I hope to god you'd be wearing since half the time you don't!
Shay: Okay, glad we got THAT sorted! Jeez, okay, there isn't anything I wouldn't do for this man.
Wendy: You guys......
Chrissy: What is your biggest pet peeve with the other?
Brax: Shay is a man whore still lol Nah, he snores and drools when he sleeps.
Shay: Shit B, just lay it all out there why don't you. You're ruining my game with these two gorgeous girls.
Chrissy: Snoring and drool don't bother me Shay. I won't let you sleep anyways.
Wendy: Oh, there's my girl! * high fives Chrissy*
Shay: Good to hear it Chrissy, I like a gal with stamina
Brax: Dude, she's married, with kids, you hate kids.
Shay: I could deal with kids, the hubby can watch them *Cracks up laughing*
Chrissy and Wendy: *bust out laughing*
*everyone calms down*
Wendy: Brax, when you saw Elle's picture for the first time you knew there was something about her. What exactly was it after meeting her for the first time that hooked you?
Brax: Those eyes of hers, they spared me. And the fact she acted like I was annoying her *laughs* just made her even more attractive. A girl playing hard to get, who represents a challenge, is always more attractive to me.
Shay: Dude, you're such a sap these days.
Brax: You really wanna go there bro?
Shay: No, shut up *frowns*
Wendy: Whoa! is there something we don't know? That was an awfully quick no from you, Shay.
Chrissy: Shay?
Brax: *raises an eyebrow at Shay who shakes his head*. Well that was a downer, sorry girls. Shay fell hard for a girl a few years ago and things happened. The dragon lady (BJ) says Shay's getting his own novella about it.
Shay: She's slave driver that woman. Anyway, who's up for body shots? Ladies?
Wendy: Game *raises hand* Oh wait, I can't drink. Chrissy?
Chrissy: Me! Me!
Brax: I'm out of this game! haha
Chrissy: Wendy you can still do body shots, you'll just be the body
Shay: *wiggles his tounge at Wendy*
Wendy: Hell yea!
Chrissy: Whose got the tequila?
Shay: *gets up and checks behind the bar, comes out bearing a bottle of Petron* Right ladies, who's first?
Brax: So this interview.....
Chrissy: Oh, right.
Wendy: Next question before these two *looks at Chrissy and Shay* get wasted off my body shots. Brax, when Elle told you she loved you, what was going through your head?
Brax: God, it totally blew my mind. I never wanted to push her into anything, but seeing her let herself go and telling me before we made love for the first time just made my heart explode. It was a huge milstone, for both of us.
Shay: Get your ass back down on the table Chrissy, I need another shot *runs lemon edge along collarbone*
Chrissy: *giggles* that tickles
Brax: Okay, enough shots for you two. Shay's getting that look in his eyes that says he's up to no good. C'mon bro, we've got a job to do here.
Shay: Oooh responsible Brax is in the house *laughs*
Chrissy: *sigh* I could let you rub your tongue over me all day but the job must be done I suppose.
Wendy: Uh oh! Let's ask Shay a question.
Brax: Good idea, he always seems to go on a bender when a certian woman from his past is mentioned.
Wendy: Shay, what is it you look for in a woman?
Shay: I like the overall package. Not just looks, but there has to be some brains there, some spunk, a little bit of sass and a whole lot of sexy.
Brax: *Scoffs* sounds like Elle bro, keep your mitts off *winks*
Shay: Eww dude, she's family. That's sick. if she had some hot friends however, like wendy or Chrissy here, now that would be a different story.
Chrissy: Wendy and I both fit nicely in that package.
Wendy: It's true, we are that awesome!
Shay: *looks Chrissy and Wendy over* Nice! I see you're wearing my favorite clothes, what do you call it Brax?
Brax: Hooker Chic! *cracks up laughing* So not the way to get in their good books Shay.
Chrissy and Wendy: *look at each other* bust up laughing*
Wendy: we'll move away from that for now. Shay, when you first saw Elle were you concened for Brax and any attachment he might start to have for her?
Shay: At first no, when I saw his reaction to her and I could tell he was hooked, I did have some reservations, but in the end, seeing them together, it was always going to happen.
Hey, where's the hot brunette gone?
Wendy: *calls out for Chrissy* Shay wants, ehrr, wants to know where you are
Chrissy: Sorry, hubby was calling, had to step out. He just wanted to know when I was going to be done playing the book version of Dungeons and Dragons.
Wendy: Okay guys, what's next? Where do you see yourselves in say 5 years?
Brax: Well I'd love to be settled down, living an uncomplicated, very uncomplicated life with Elle by my side, maybe Shay can live in our guest house cause he'll still be single no doubt.
Shay: *scoffs* Thanks B, glad i'm included in your plans.
I'll still be working, maybe own our own agency by then, play by our own rules for once instead of everyone elses, aye bro?
Brax: Hell yeah *fist bumps Shay*
Wendy: Wow, you guys have your shit figured out. Now it's all about getting it done.
Chrissy: Will you guys give us an autograph before you leave us?
Shay: Sure ladies, where would you like me to sign *waggles eyebrows while looking the girls up and down*
Chrissy: Shay, can you sign my panties? I'm not wearing any.
Shay: Shit girl, you sure you're married, you're so my type.
Wendy: *reaches into her bag* I'm not wearing any either *pulls out panties* can you sign these?
Brax: Are you shitting me? Custom Lost in Distraction Thongs? *shakes head* this is insane.
Shay: Damn. You two are trouble with a capital T, and I like it *winks* Hey Wendy, I think you dropped this note with your phone number on it.
Brax: Hey Shay, just got a text from Elle, we've gotta go. Sorry ladies, but we've gotta cut this short.
Shay: Her ladyship awaits *laughs* Na, Elle only texts like that if something's up so we better get going. See you in a photo booth some time *winks and laughs as he walks away*
Wendy: *gives Shay's ass a pat as he walks past*
Chrissy: Later guys! Can't wait to make that photo booth date, Shay.
Shay: *mutters under his breath* damn shame they're married
REVIEW
Chrissy's Review
Not only did I love this book but it had me sitting on the edge of me seat the entire time from the Suspense. Lets start by talking a little bit about the romance side of this book. We start out with Elise AKA Elle, the tortured soul, that is just existing and Brax, the moth drawn to the flame. As soon as he sees Elle's for the first time he knows he has to get to know her. The romance around Brax and Elle was phenomenal. Not only was their relationship delivered within a reasonable time frame, no fluff fillers, but it felt real. The emotion that I felt from these characters was out of this world. Two tortured souls that gave each other a reason to keep moving on together. And HOLY FRACKIN NON-SEX SCENE, BATMAN! The non-sex scenes in this book were just as AMAZEBALLS as the sex scenes. I seriously had a lot of panty fanning going on while reading Lost in Distraction.
The suspense in this book literally had my heart racing, wondering what was going to happen next. BJ Harvey provides just enough information to keep you reading without actually giving you the information that you want. I can not wait until the next book is released. I know that it will be one of those books that I sit down and read in an entire day. Bravo, BJ Harvey, for delivering an out of this world debut novel. I look forward to reading many more of your books!
