Playing Patience

Playing Patience

5 Star Rating!!!!!!!

Synopsis:
Life’s been hard for Zeke. Being a punching bag for his alcoholic father has turned him into stone. Not even the dodgy trailer park he lives in can scare him. Fighting is his release and sex, drugs, and his guitar bring him peace, but deep down Zeke isn’t quite as hard as he makes himself out to be. When he meets Patience, she finds all his broken pieces and puts him back together, but she’s a ray of light in his shadowed life and the last thing he wants to do is bring her into his dark world. Playing careless is easy, playing the bad guy can be fun, but playing Patience is impossible, especially when she can see right through him.

Zeke isn’t the only one who’s broken, and for the first time, in a long time, Patience feels alive. Her black and white world gets a shot of color when she meets Zeke. He’s unlike anyone she’s ever met with his tattoos, piercings, and blunt honesty. She wants nothing more than to let go and ride the wild side with him, but some wounds never heal and the broken pieces of Patience aren’t so easy to find.

***Warning: this book contains graphic language, sex, and violence. Mature readers only. Not intended for young adult readers.***

Exerpt
I turned away and flicked my blonde hair with the back of my fingers making sure it whipped him in the face.
He grabbed a fist full of it and gently tugged me against him. His warm body was pressed against my back. His strong heartbeat slammed into my shoulder reminding me how tall and big he was. His breath tickled my cheek as he pressed his lips to my ear. Goosebumps invaded every inch of my skin and I shivered. He felt my shiver and chuckled softly. It was deep and dark…sexy.
“Spit all the lies you want, Snowflake.” His hand snaked around me and under my shirt. My abdominal muscles clenched making my ribs ache as he ran his finger around my belly button. “Your body spoke my language the other night and it said differently. I’m not stupid; I see the way you look at me. It’s hot and I fucking love it. I bet you fantasize about me, too. One day you’re going to beg me for the things you fantasize about. If you’re a good little girl, I might give you some relief when that time comes. So, I suggest you play nice.” He planted a hot kiss on the side of my neck and then cold air rushed in against my back and replaced him.

Review:

I absolutely fell in love with this book and the characters. On the surface the stereotypical rich good girl and sexy bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks is what I envisioned. But I quickly realized underneath all that you have two people more alike than they realize through secrets they keep buried within.
Patience is a rich girl whose life seems perfect in the beginning but you quickly find out it is anything but perfect. She does her best to try and blend in, everywhere but on the soccer field. Her mother and sister are the most important people in her life and she will go to any means to keep them safe.  Quickly you find out that just because it looks perfect on the outside does not always mean it is on the inside……Patience and her family have plenty of secrets.
”There’s a place you land, right before you hit rock bottom, a sort of cushion before the blow…Zeke was that place for me. He was like a rainbow in my black and white movie, a soothing touch against jagged scars.” ~Patience

“She was a sense of peace I had been searching for in all the wrong places” ~Zeke

Zeke is a cocky, smart mouthed, party boy rocker. He barely goes to school enough to slide by, Plays in his band called Blow Hole and parties hard afterward. He doesn't there is anything wrong with his lifestyle and thinks that there is nothing better out there for him.

"You want to know what I am? I'm shattered, that's what I am. There are tiny pieces of Patience scattered all over." ~Patience

“Don’t ever be scared with me. I’d never do anything to hurt you and I’d destroy anyone who tried”~ Zeke

A twist of fate lead to Patience and Zeke finding one another, and though they got off to a rocky start……….Patience ends up finding peace in the arms of Zeke,  Unfortunately Zeke hates feeling any sort of emotion, especially the feelings that he starts having toward Patience. He fights his feelings for her, knowing that he's a broken person, and that she deserves better than he can offer her….. The twist is that he has no idea that she is broken too. He tells himself that he's no good for her and that she's too good for him. He hates that she's beginning to become a weakness to him, throughout the entire book they find their way back to one another, that is until one fateful night when something awful happens and Patience tells Zeke to leave her alone, will they find their way back one more time?
